Coconut oil, also known as coconut fat, has a solid, white to whitish yellow vegetable oil at room temperature. It is obtained from the pulp of coconut and is characterized by its high proportion of saturated fatty acids. Depending on the ambient temperature the consistency is solid, soft or liquid. Cocos fat is often used because of its high heat resistance, and its neutral flavor for baking, roasting and frying.
